Use Surge to automatically switch DNS (v2) when the network changes
I wrote a tutorial before about using Surge to automatically select the DNS service to use when switching between networks. The advantage of this is that I can use my own AdGuard Home DNS to get a faster response when I am at home, and switch to an external DoH server when I am out to maintain a safe Internet environment.
The original teaching needs to write scripts and two modules to automatically switch DNS, but now that Surge is after 4.20.0 (2306), this function can be realized in a simpler way. So let's explain the new version below!
Note: Currently (2022/07/04) this feature is still being tested and requires Surge TestFlight qualifications to use.
First of all, if you used my old tutorials as scripts and mods, first turn off or delete the automatic DNS scripts and mods.
Then go back to the Surge main page, click on the profile name in the upper left corner, and select "Edit in text mode"
Then save it. If you also want to use DoH in a specific SSID, you don't need dns-serverthat section, just encrypted-dns-serverspecify a different DoH URL.
